Thriving in the Eye of the Storm

Course Description:

Clinicians of Color!

We are hosting a one day event to foster connection, offer reprieve, and provide reminders!

This year has presented us with significant challenges…changes to funding, multiple closures of departments or divisions that support the communities we serve, and unlawful deportations… to say the least. So many significant changes can cause us to practice from a place of uncertainty rather than centeredness.

Clinicians of color have an innate ability to connect to a source that carries us through the storm. Join us for a day of turning inward to reconnect to that which settles you, to what excites you, to what brings you joy. Leave with new or rekindled connections, a sense of community and a reinvigorated plan to thrive in the eye of the storm. We hope to provide space not only for connection and community but also activities that lead to personal reflection. You will be invited and encouraged to process in ways that feel most natural for you.

*If part of your identity is Black, Indigenous, a Person of Color, or Multiracial and you live in a White presenting body, we want you to join us. We do not want those parts to be erased, hidden, or left unattended!

Learning Objectives:

1. Create a personal “container” to externalize current challenges to your clinical practices, places of employment, or community work. (Name the Storm)

2. Identify and engage with mediums of art, music, movement, connection or quiet practices that soothes and reconnects you to yourself. (Find the Eye)

3. Develop your recipe of connection, community, and joy. (Thriving within the Eye)

Designed For: All types of healers, mental health professionals, social workers, space holders, community leaders and organizers, and educators.

This workshop is ideal for clinicians and healers of color who are fatigued, anxious, enraged, disoriented, overwhelmed, grieving, numb, and/or longing to be in community.  All parts of you are welcome!
