I wanted to become a supervisor to address cultural concerns that had been missing within my own experiences as a supervisee while working in community mental health. In my own supervision, I experienced many negative experiences that ultimately were unsupportive of my clinical development. My hope as a supervisor is to now provide support to my supervisees that address cultural concerns and self-of-the-therapist issues that I did not receive.
I primarily approach supervision from a supervisee-directed or supervisee-led perspective. My belief is that my role as a supervisor is to facilitate a space for supervisees to discuss what is relevant for them, whether this involves case conceptualization; self-of-the-therapist concerns, or logistical concerns. I also hope to address cultural concerns and navigating power within all therapeutic relationships to properly provide support and create emotional safety within the supervisor-supervisee relationship.
Outside of therapy and supervision, I enjoy playing video games, namely role-playing games. I also enjoy photography and playing music.
