Our Approach

“To heal is to touch with love, that which was previously touched with fear.” - Stephen Levine

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, a feeling of hopelessness, or challenges in your most important relationships, we recognize that at the core of all our struggles is a desire to belong, to be accepted, and feel understood.

If our relationship(s) are conflictual, painful, or distant, then it’s even harder to face the uncertainty, unpredictability, and inhumanity of our world. Similarly, we can’t help but bring all of the stressors of the world home to our loved ones, feeling them playing out invisibly under the surface.

We believe that building security in our relationship with ourselves, and in our relationships with the people we hold most dear, serves as an irreplaceable foundation from which to tackle all other challenges in life. When our relationship(s) feel strong and deeply connected, we feel a deep sense of peace, resilience, and renewed energy.

Invest in yourself and your relationship(s) today!

Types of Therapy

“The hallmark of secure attachment is the ability to remain connected to yourself, while also being connected to others.” - Sheleana Aiyana

Research shows that children thrive when they are able to feel safe in their environment and form secure bonds, or attachments, with their care-givers. A “secure attachment” involves helping the child and parent to have positive, trusting interactions so that the child feels protected, valued, and safe so that they can explore the world and learn new skills. Understanding that forming a close connection with care-givers will support children to heal and grow, Experience Change will engage both you and your child in the therapy process to support whatever challenges you may be facing as a team.

Similar to younger children, teens need to form secure bonds with their adult care-givers in order to grow, change, and thrive. However, unlike younger children, teens require a balance between connection and security with their parents and room to connect with their peers – the people they need to bond with, to survive and successfully navigate being an adult. Experience Change will support your teen to learn important life skills like self-awareness, self-advocacy, and responsiveness to others, while simultaneously helping you to be their best advocate and support system as they move towards adulthood. With increased mutual trust, your teen will be able to more effectively cope with any challenges they may be facing.

Experience Change will support you to turn inward to explore and understand yourself in the context of your relational history and your unique identity in the world. Through this introspection and deeper understanding of your own desires and needs, we support you to then turn towards the challenges you face with greater connection to yourself and more tools to effectively create change in your life.

Experience Change will help you and your partner(s) to move from a sense of disconnection, confusion, loneliness and/or hurt, towards an experience of mutual trust, respect, and connection. We do this by helping you to identify the dynamics in your relationship that undermine your ability to feel safe or understood. We then support you to learn new ways of responding to and caring for one another that will increase your security and satisfaction in your bond. With this more “secure base”, we find that couples are far better able to tackle the challenges of navigating a complex life together!

Experience Change uses Attachment-Based interventions to help family members develop secure bonds with one another, increasing safety and healthy communication. Your therapist will support you to identify any ineffective family patterns that may be keeping you stuck in conflict or disconnection. In sessions, your therapist will guide you in understanding each other on a deeper level, and help you to learn new ways of relating and responding to one another so you can enjoy more connection, love and ease.

The groups we run at Experience Change are focused on increasing the bond with your partner or family members. The power of group therapy is being in a small community group of others who are all focused on the same topic or interest, and are able to learn from each other. You are not alone! Listen to other’s stories, share your experience, and explore new possibilities together.

Why Choose Experience Change?

This community of therapists recognizes that healing and growth can only take place when we feel safe, understood and valued for our unique identities and intrinsic worth.

We are mindful that most therapeutic treatment models are developed by White men or, (more rarely) White women, and the research supporting these models is often focused on privileged communities. While these models may have universal aspects, we value integrating a variety of approaches to help us serve a wide range of people with intersecting identities.

Our company is deeply rooted in liberation for the oppressed and marginalized. We are committed to equity by maintaining a flat organizational structure that has as little hierarchy as possible, engaging in shared-decision making, developing cultural humility and sensitivity through company-wide DEI trainings, and clinical supervisors participating in ongoing equity and racial responsibility courses.

We also strive to maintain an equitable model of access to high-quality therapy services. We do this by taking self-pay, insurance, Medicaid, and offering scholarships. Those who have means to pay full price, further their dollar by supporting others who also need therapy.

Good Faith Estimate: You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items or services.  You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.  Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least one business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.  If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute your bill.  Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information to your right for a Good Faith Estimate, visit or call 720-504-5169.
